Proteus 8 Professional v8.12 SP0 [Full]

Proteus is not a name that sounds familiar to too many people. If you work in the medical field, you may recognize it as a genus of bacteria that includes different species such as mirabilis or vulgaris that reside in our intestinal tract. But beyond microbiology, in the software sector it turns out to be one of the electronic design programs most appreciated by engineering students and electronics professionals, capable of offering advanced simulation of electronic circuits and microprocessors.

Electronic design and simulation on your PC.

It is one of the most complete electronic tool packs on the market since its version 8.5 (the newest of all) allows us to create from our PC all kinds of PCBs or printed circuit boards using almost 800 different microcontrollers, and simulate its actual operation directly from the schematic view of the circuit. And how could it be otherwise, with the times, it integrates tools with which to design and simulate within the Arduino environment, one of the most popular boards of the moment.

The main components of Proteus Design Suite
This software consists of two main components around which its entire operation revolves:

ISIS: is the acronym for Intelligent Schematic Input System or Intelligent Schematic Routing System and is the program that allows us to design the electrical plane of the circuit, including all kinds of electronic components such as resistors, coils, capacitors, power supplies and even microprocessors.

ARES: is the acronym for Advanced Routing and Editing Software or Advanced Routing and Editing Software and is the tool dedicated to the design of printed circuit boards or PCBs, with routing, location and editing functions of electronic components.

Where to download ISIS and ARES? Well, you cannot get them as standalone applications , so in order to take advantage of all their features you will have to get the full version of Proteus, which although it is paid, has a trial edition available on the official website of Labcenter Electronics so you can test its functions before deciding whether to buy it or not

In addition to these two programs, this software has different modules such as VSM that, integrated within ISIS, allows the simulation in real time of different characteristics of the integrated circuits, or Electra, the auto-routing module that allows to automatically trace tracks between components, looking for the most optimal way to improve the speed of the circuit.

Which is better? Proteus or Multisim?
It is the eternal doubt for students and professionals of electronics when choosing a program to simulate their electronic circuits and, as almost always, there is no universal answer that satisfies everyone equally because it mainly depends on the use that is wanted give the application.

For example, if you are looking for a program for analog and digital simulation of integrated circuits, the National Instruments Corporation product may best suit your needs as it is possibly the best software in this category. On the contrary, if you are into microprocessor simulation, Multisim may be a bit too short for you and that is where Proteus comes in , since it has many libraries that allow you to simulate different types of models. So each one is very good at their own and it will be up to you to decide which one suits you.

What's new in the latest version
  • Support for matching the length of differential pairs.
  • New report for component location.
  • New cloud licensing solution for business and education.
